Camas Educational Foundation
THANK YOU TO ALL SUPPORTERS OF THE 2007 CEF AUCTION!
Thanks to generous community support, “A Celebration of Success”, CEF’s ninth annual benefit auction and dinner held on October 13, 2007 at the Vancouver Hilton, raised over $116,000.
Funds raised will be distributed back to the Camas School district in the form of mini grants and larger strategic grants to support district goals.
This year, CEF focused its collective bid on much-needed materials for the Hayes Freedom High School (HFHS) library, and Camas parents and patrons took up the challenge, donating the largest collective bid in the event's ten-year history - $18,000. Formerly known as the Camas Alternative Program (C.A.P.), HFHS is the Camas School District’s new stand-alone alternative program, serving over 150 students in grades 6-12.
“It was inspiring to see the overwhelming number of people donating to the collective bid,” commented auction chair Gail Gast. “I'm so thrilled for Hayes!”
HFHS parent Betty Jo Poser helped create the library that currently serves the students there. “When we first began the library, we literally were gathering books from everyone in the community,” said Poser. “This will definitely benefit the kids at Hayes. I'm excited to have a real library!” she said.
